I Drove to Tennessee for In-n-Out Burger

Why yes, I drove to Tennessee for In-N-Out Burger. It's not the craziest thing I've ever done and I did get to see family that lives in the area, win-win.

We went to the one in Lebanon, TN and waited about an hour. According to staff, that's the average wait time since they opened! That's wild to me. I'm a huge In-N-Out Burger fan and whenever I am out West, I get it. I go out of my way to get it! It's so good! I feel like it's a good alternative to those golden arches when you are traveling out West and craving fast food.
I will say, there was nothing fast about this fast food. Which honestly, I get and understand since they just opened. The staff were super friendly and patient. I was seriously impressed with the positive attitudes despite the chaos. They were also highly efficient, like almost worthy of my favorite chicken place's status of efficiency.
My order is always simple. I'm a generally picky eater and like things plain. I got a cheeseburger plain with fries and a soda. $9.44 total which is about the same as what I spend at the golden arches on my meal. Still, a meal under $10 is quite a feat these days!
My nana was able to get a grilled cheese and that made her happy. It came on a bun and said it was the most interesting grilled cheese she ever had.
My burger was really good and fresh. It tasted fresh which is always a good sign! My fries however, those were not good. I ate a handful of them and sadly, they didn't taste any better as time went on. I couldn't tell you if they weren't cooked all the way or what. Just not it. I was disappointed overall since we waited a long time and honestly, we had all hyped it up.

Everyone has hyped it up considerably. It's always busy with long waits, even weeks after opening. We met someone that traveled from Oklahoma to try it. Absolutely wild. I drove five hours. Was it worth it? Um, no. It was not. It had been hyped up too much and it fell short. Was it cool? Eh. Not really. It was really crowded and not the same vibe as out West.
Next time I drive through Nashville, I might try it again if the wait times are way shorter. I was not impressed with the lines. It really wasn't worth it. It was cool to try and be a part of the hype. That's about it. It was a bit of a let down. Will I be allowed to continue making decisions about trying things that are far away and creating trips around them? To be determined.
If you've tried it in Nashville and out West, what were your thoughts? Should it have stayed out West? Let me know your thoughts!
XOXO,
Halle
PS - one day I will master taking more aesthetic photos.
